Appendix B. Prompt Templates

1. Explain a concept

Explain [concept] for [audience and level]. Start with a plain-language definition, give one practical example, explain two common misunderstandings, and finish with three review questions. Distinguish established facts from uncertainty.

2. Summarise a supplied document

Use only the document I provide. Summarise its purpose, main claims, evidence, recommendations, and limitations. Refer to the relevant headings or page numbers where available. If the document does not support a claim, say so. Do not add outside information unless I ask.

3. Compare options

Compare [Option A], [Option B], and [Option C] for [purpose]. Use criteria of [criteria]. Present a table, explain the trade-offs, identify assumptions and missing information, and state what evidence should be checked before a decision.

4. Draft and improve a report

Help me prepare a report on [topic] for [audience]. First propose an outline and identify missing information. After I approve the outline, draft each section. Mark claims requiring evidence, do not invent references, and provide a final verification checklist.

5. Review a project plan

Review this project plan for scope, deliverables, dependencies, schedule, budget, stakeholders, risks, quality, data protection, and acceptance criteria. Identify inconsistencies and missing evidence. Separate critical issues from improvements and do not assume fictional figures are real.

6. Research support

Help refine this research question: [question]. Suggest search concepts and inclusion criteria. Do not fabricate studies or citations. For every source you recommend, provide enough bibliographic information for me to verify it independently. Distinguish a search suggestion from a verified finding.

7. Check an AI-generated answer

Audit the following answer. List factual claims, identify which need verification, check internal consistency, flag unsupported assumptions, and suggest authoritative sources to consult. Do not treat confidence or fluent wording as evidence.
